Lamaze Classes

When: 2010

Lamaze classes are offered at Hamilton Hospital during four class sessions each year. Classes embrace the International Philosophy of Childbirth and are taught by Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator Kristie Neddermeyer, RN, BSN.

The next four-week session will start Aug. 10, 2010. Each class will be held from 6-9 p.m. in the hospital's third floor Education Center.

Topics include normal labor and birth, positioning, massage techniques, comfort measures, relaxation skills, labor support advice, communication skills, unexpected outcomes, decision-making guidance, breastfeeding and postpartum, and healthy lifestyles.

The classes are intended for women in their third trimester and a support person. A fee of $50 is required for materials, and is collected before the first class. A refresher course is also available for experienced parents at a reduced fee.
